During the course of the last week there we had a lot of tired and excited members after being up at 2am to watch our friend and one of our coaches Sue Oakman compete in the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games Masters Division (50-54). Sue incredibly finished 11th in the World at the end of the week, after a 5th place finish in her last event! We are incredibly proud of her and so privileged to have such an high calibre athlete being apart of our community. This is what Sue wrote on her Facebook page after the games:
"What an absolute incredible week it has been!!! I am very proud and thrilled with my 11th place finish in the world at the The CrossFit Games 2015. It was a tough competition this year but my best Games experience so far, very fortunate to compete with such an amazing group of women, thank you girls!!
A huge thank you to everyone who has sent me a message or posted to motivate and congratulate me on my performance. It was much needed and very much appreciated.
My awesome support crew here at the Games. Your cheering was loud and clear, so happy to share this experience with the 3 of you.
The crew at Crossfit Maroochydore, thank you so much for getting up early,I could hear you all cheering from here.
Family, friends, Bennii Van Rooy (your unwavering support, friendship, positivity and belief in me), Crossfit Stellenbosch, CrossFit New Beginning 4504.
Matthew Noonan, thank you, there wasn't a lot of time to prepare amongst all my musculoskeletal issues, but the coaching and programming worked well.
Lastly, but not least, my lovely wife Miets, THANK YOU for everything, I could not have done this without you, forever grateful to have you in my life, love you xx".
Sue competed at the Games in 2011 & 2012. As a result of a shoulder injury and surgery she was unable to compete in 2013 & 2014.
Anyone who knows Sue, knows she is determined and always gives everything she has to be the best she can be, but also inspires so many people to be better as well.
We are so proud of your efforts Sue and cant wait to have you home to hear about your trip to the games!
